After a near miss the previous week, Tony Doerr came back to the Tuesday Night Classic league at Strikers Entertainment Center and finished the job, getting his sixth sanctioned 300 game and first in the Port Huron Bowling Association. Doerr finished the series with the high mark for the week at 795.
Another left-hander finding success was Matt Langolf as he also threw a perfect game, his second of the season. Langolf’s three-game total of 778 in the Cowboys & Indians league at Port Huron Lanes was good enough for second on the week. Nick Conard rounded out our trio of 300 games, getting his in the PHL Early Four Man league. It was the ninth perfect game for Conard, and he finished with a 742 series.
Shawna Lentner led the women with a 661 series in the Cowboys & Indians league. She was followed by a couple of 654s from Peg Vanantwerp and Melissa Legault. Other high series were: Jaclyn Meldrum 636, Jennifer Reynolds 629, and Legault again at 622.
Peg Vanantwerp and Jennifer Reynolds shared high game of the week with 245s. Other ladies with strong games were Lentner 237, Legault 236 & 222, Meldrum 235, Kelly Larsen 234, Michelle Rowell 230, Barb Brown 227, Margy Christy 226, Ann Nichols 216, Theresa Janowicz 214, Judy Tidwell 213, Sandy Drouillard 213, Gerry Sedich 213, Laurynn Ball 213, Lisa Heineman 212, Brenda Bruehan 212, Alicia Schroeder 212, Joddy Swoffer 211, Michelle Jones 210, and Gina Dick 210.
Tim Wolfe led the rest of the men with a 770 series in the Blue Water Men’s league at St. Clair River Lanes. Also topping the 750 mark for series were Jim Creasor 762 and Dom Cocco 752. Two others were close, with Cliff Crawford and Mike Schindler each at 748. They were followed by Jim Hazelton 734, Jose Ganhs 731, Scott Berube 728, Greg Cronce 727, Chad Wolak 721, Creasor 718, Chuck Ouellette 717, Alex French 716, Tim Osmer 716, Jeff Meldrum 714, Ed Martin 711, and Chuck Duvall 711.
Beyond the perfect games, Ron Messer had next high game with a 288 in the Port Huron Hospital AM league at Bowl O Drome. He was followed by six bowlers at 279 (Ron McCulloch, Dale Camphausen, Mike Gossman, Cocco, French, and Cronce), four others at 278 (Pat McCormick, Kris Brunelle, Fred Finch, and Creasor), Don Cooper III 277, and Paul Fleming 275.
Gina Dick, bowling in the Inter City Ladies league at Port Huron Lanes, achieved her first-ever 200 game. Angel Pawlowski also rolled her first 200 game with a 217 in the Port Huron Lanes Youth Juniors league.
•The William Vincent Association Tournament (PHBA) will be the weekends of Feb. 7 and 8 (Team Event at Bowl O Drome) and Feb. 14 and 15 (Doubles/Singles at Port Huron Lanes).
