Roberson junior Elyse King was an All-American athlete in two events at last week’s USA Track & Field Junior Olympics meet in Jacksonville, Fla.
King came in fifth in the girls 15-16 age division for the triple jump (38 feet, 3.5 inches) and was eighth in the long jump (17-5.25).
The top-eight placers in each event were considered All-Americans. King was representing the Asheville Lighting track club.
Other Lightning athletes who competed at the national meet were Tanner English (hammer), Owen Koppe (3,000-meter race walk), Hudson Kotch (1,500-meter run), Noela Moraga (discus), Olivia Moraga (mini javelin), Zack Myers (shot put and high jump), Savannah Sharp (javelin) and Elise Wright (1,500-meter run).
