Lexington, SC (WLTX) — The Dreher girls soccer team was facing a monumental challenge in a Hilton Head Island team which had won the last four state championships.
But with junior forward Kasey Parker scoring five goals, Dreher was not be denied, winning 7-3 to capture the 3A state championship at River Bluff High School.
It was Dreher’s fkrst state championship since 2002.
Parker, a USC commitment, scored 45 seconds into the match which set the tone for her dominating performance. Parker would add a second goal two minutes later to give the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead.
After Hilton Head scored two quick goals to tie the match, Parker would add two more goals in the half to give the Blue Devils a 5-2 halftime lead.
Her fifth and final goal of the match gave Dreher a 6-2 lead. Each team would add a goal to close out the scoring.
