Powered by a consistent, steady offensive effort and a seemingly impervious defense, Dryden ran away with the first of three contests this week, 53-23 at Groton on Monday night.
After playing to a 6-6 tie through the midpoint of the first quarter, the Purple Lions went on a 14-point run led by sophomore Grace DePaul, who finished with all of her seven points in the first quarter.
Maggie Cole and Vicky Leyburn then took the reins, combining on five 3-pointers. Cole finished with 11 points and Leyburn 10. All 12 players saw playing time for Dryden in its season-opener, and nine scored.
Paige Graham led the Indians with 12 points.
Lindsey Goodenough grabbed eight rebounds for the Purple Lions, including a stretch of four consecutive defensive rebounds.
