Franklin senior guard Luke Kennard has held several prestigious honors this school year and Monday he added another one.
Kennard, a Duke signee, will be a part of the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class when he steps on campus in Durham this summer.
Duke received a commitment from Kinston (N.C.) small forward Brandon Ingram on Monday night, cementing the national champion Blue Devils as having the No. 1 class going into the 2015 season.
“Duke lost 80% of its scoring and their only point guard (Tyus Jones),” ESPN director of recruiting Paul Biancardi tweeted “Now they have the #1 recruiting class & a top 20 team. The power of recruiting.”
Kennard, who played in the McDonald’s All American Game, Nike Hoop Summit and was selected to the Jordan Brand Classic, is eligible to be selected for the U.S. Under-19 team this summer.
Kennard is officially listed as the No. 2 all-time scorer in Ohio boys’ basketball history by the OHSAA. He scored 2,977 career points.
Kennard will leave in mid-June – likely June 12 – for the U-19 tryouts in Colorado Springs.
