Setting the tone from the first event, Cherry Hill East High School cruised to a 109-61 victory over Montgomery in a State Public A semifinal swim meet on Wednesday at the College of New Jersey Aquatic Center.
The Cougars will return to the same venue on Saturday to face three-time defending state champion Westfield for the Public A title. Cherry Hill East fell to the Blue Devils 103-67 in last year’s final.
After taking first and second in the 200-yard medley relay to start the meet, the Cougars took control when Duncan Brookover led a 1-2 finish in the 200 individual medley and David Rowe led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 butterfly.
In addition to winning the 200IM, Brookover swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays, while Rowe swam the third leg on both the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Pat Gillooly was the only double individual event winner for Cherry Hill East, finishing first in both the 50 and 100 freestyles.
