East Lincoln junior Chazz Surratt committed to play his college football for Duke on Tuesday.
Surratt has been a tremendous thorn in the side of Western North Carolina teams throughout his athletic career.
Lets count the ways.
Surratt was a receiver back in 2012 when the Mustangs ended the best football season in Madison history with a 31-14 victory in the 2-A Western Regional championship game.
Surratt shattered Franklin’s dreams as a quarterback last fall when the Panthers visited Denver for a 31-21, loss in the 2-AA state semifinals.
And for good measure, Surrratt overcame foul trouble to help oust the Smoky Mountain boys basketball team in the 2-A Western Regional championship game on March 7 in Winston-Salem, 52-50.
Surratt was named the regional tournament’s most valuable player after finishing with 20 points against the Mustangs.
