Editor’s note: Following are the two athletes nominated by their school for Gannett Central Wisconsin Media’s High School Sports Awards. The top male and female athletes of the year will be announced May 6, along with the coaches and teams of the year.
Parents: Greg and Tammy Kornack
Academic honors earned: Graduating on the high honor roll, Presidential Award, Marawood Conference Leadership Convention, FBLA regional champion and state participant.
Favorite sports memory: Definitely winning the team conference title in track last year. Everyone on the team came together and made up for injuries and sickness to get the title.
Inspiration: My older brother, David, has always pushed me to work hard and reach my max potential.
College plans: I plan to continue my study at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. My educational aspirations consist of acquiring a master’s degree in either psychology or speech and language pathology.
Junior letters, honors: Volleyball, basketball, track (honorable mention all-conference, team conference champions, track sectional finalist).

Favorite sports memory: My favorite memory was when we beat Stratford high school in overtime to win the conference title my sophomore football season. I kicked the winning field goal in overtime. It was one of the most intense and emotional plays of my entire varsity career.
College plans: Next fall I will be attending Northern Michigan University on a football scholarship. I will be majoring in pre-dentistry.
Senior letters, honors: Football (first team all-conference, captain, 1st Team All-State Linebacker. Honorable Mention All-State Kicker. School Record field goal of 47 yards. Selected for the WIFCA All-Star game as linebacker, kicker, and punter), basketball, baseball.
