Eighth Region honors top players, coaches

Owen County High School’s Carson Williams and Gallatin County’s Hannah Dossett have been named the boys’ and girls’ Eighth Region Players of the Year in a vote of the region’s basketball coaches.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 junior forward, is averaging 23.7 points and 14.4 rebounds at Owen County.

Dossett, a 5-8 senior guard/forward, is averaging 20.6 points and 6.8 rebounds. She has signed to play softball at Syracuse.

Taking Coach of the Year honors were Owen County boys’ coach Devin Duvall and Simon Kenton girls’ coach Jeff Stowers.

* Boys: Carson Williams (Owen County); Austin Cummins (Anderson County); Hayden Hawes, Connor Hicks, Jacob Bates (Oldham County); Jonathan Henry (North Oldham); Brent Kidwell, Deion Cochran (Collins); Matt Mullins (Simon Kenton); Michael Dunaway (Trimble County); James Gordon, Keenan Cochran (Shelby County); Jordan Saylor, Seth Adkins, Austin Johnson (Grant County).

* Girls: Hannah Dossett (Gallatin County); Hailey Ison (Walton-Verona); MacKenzie Raizor, Justus Martin (Shelby County); Kaci Currens (Anderson County); Abigail Stewart (Oldham County); Allison Niece, Maggi Bosse (Simon Kenton); Abby VanZant (South Oldham); Michaela Kennedy (Williamstown); Kaylee Clifford, Shelbe Black (Trimble County); Macy Wright (Grant County); Michelle Roberts (Collins); Megan Payton (Henry County).
