Duran helped end a 23-year drought for Battle Creek Central with one simple kick. The Bearcat junior found the bottom corner of the net in the second overtime of the All-City Tournament championship game, lifting his team to a 2-1 victory over Lakeview. It marked the first time Battle Creek Central had ever won a city title in the tournament that began in 1992.

Bronson volleyball

Bronson was elevated to the No. 1 ranking in Class C this week, and Pyles is a big reason why the Vikings are considered one of the top teams in the state. The senior helped Bronson to a third-place finish in a loaded field at the Portage Northern Invitational, leading the team with 35 kills to go with 12 aces, seven blocks and 14 digs. In a sweep of New Buffalo, she tallied a team-best 10 kills along with six aces, two blocks and two digs.
