Erwin senior Mariah Reid is on the brink of becoming the next Western North Carolina basketball player to score 1,000 career points.
Reid has 995 points and should reach the milestone in Friday’s first round of the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs.
The Mountain Athletic Conference champion Warriors (23-1) are the No. 4 seed and home for a 4 p.m. game against No. 29 West Rowan (10-14).
Reid averages 12.7 points per game. She has signed to play college basketball for Gardner-Webb.
