Ex-Hunters Lane player from UAB finds new team

By

Former Hunters Lane defensive back Scottie Peace, who was on the football team at Alabama-Birmingham when the program was shut down, has transferred to Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

UAB’s program was shut down after the Blazers posted a 6-6 record in 2014 for financial reasons, according to the school’s president Ray Watts.

Wes Drewery, a long snapper from Centennial, also played at UAB. He transferred in December to Murray State.

Peace will have two years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to play in 2015.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff is a Football Championship Subdivision team, which plays in the Southwest Athletic Conference.

After redshirting in 2012 and not getting on the field in 2013, Peace had worked his way into the rotation at safety at the beginning of the 2014 season.

But in the first week, he suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the rest of the year.
