Fairfax (Los Angeles) is heading home from San Diego as the Under Armour Holiday Classic National Division champions for the second consecutive year.
Fairfax (12-1) downed Centennial (Corona, Calif.), 68-53. Fairfax’s 68 points were the most it scored in its four games at the event using its defensive-oriented style.
Donald Gipson, who had 14 in the final, was named the National Division MVP. So far this season, Gipson has shown no ill effects from knee surgery after an injury suffered in the playoffs last season.
Teammates Antoine Moore, Jamal Hartwell and Babakar Thiombane were named all-tournament. Thiombane had 14 in the final. Hartwell had seven points, five rebounds and seven assists.
Centennial’s Jalen Hill had a game-high 23 in the final and was named all-tournament as well.
