Damien Ferguson’s latest start was one for the record books at Erwin.
The junior quarterback is the latest winner of the Mission Health Spotlight Performance of the Week football award.

Ferguson threw for a school-record 449 yards and four touchdowns in Thursday’s 35-31 win at Roberson. He also ran for a 60-yard touchdown to help Erwin (5-4, 3-1) come back from a 28-7 first half deficit. The Mountain Athletic Conference game was televised on live TV by WMYA (40).
Honorable mention for this week’s award goes to the following WNC players who were also nominated by Citizen-Times readers – Mitchell’s Ben Young and Alex McKinney, Pisgah’s Jeff Albritton, Polk County’s Jamal Wheeler, Robbinsville’s Lane Millsaps and West Henderson’s Tanner Bullock.
Nominations for the Mission Health Spotlight Performance of the Week award are accepted each Monday through noon, either through e-mail (email@example.com) or here on the High School Huddle by leaving a comment.
To ensure fairness, only nominated players will be considered by the Citizen-Times, but the number of e-mails or comments received will not necessarily determine the winner.
