On Monday, Aug. 31, Bellarmine students started their day with an all-school assembly. Both the president and principal spoke, and then the music broke out. Student musicians played, two students sang a duet and a teacher belted out Frank Sinatra.

Then the faculty and staff swarmed the gym floor for a flash mob. Members of various departments shifted, kicked and twirled. The teachers inspired students, and a dance party almost erupted. A club could form in the future.

“Keep it Real,” the Associated Student Body’s theme for the year, matched the ambiance of the opening ceremonies.

Senior Julia Gavigan summed up the surprise moves. “That was awesome!”
