The Butkus Foundation has announced the five finalists for the Butkus Award, presented to the nation’s top linebacker. The winner will be named Dec. 8 after voting by an independent panel of 51 recruits, scouts, coaches and media members.

The five finalists:

  • Ben Davis, Gordo High, Gordo, Ala.
  • Mique Jaurez, North High, Torrance, Calif.
  • Caleb Kelly, Clovis West High, Freno, Calif.
  • Maxs Tupai, Murray High, Salt Lake City
  • Lyndell “Mack” Wilson, Carver Senior High, Montgomery, Ala.

Malik Jefferson from Poteet High in Texas was last year’s winner. He is now a freshman at the University of Texas.
