Five-run fifth inning leads NW Cabarrus over Cox Mill

By

CONCORD, N.C. — Northwest Cabarrus pitcher Brittany Duncan frustrated Cox Mill’s offense Tuesday, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits in a 6-1 Trojans victory.

Duncan’s ability to keep the Chargers guess resulted in 8 strikeouts against just 4 walks. The two SPC foes battled through four scoreless innings before the Trojans exploded for 5 runs in the fifth. The Northwest duo of Alli Florian and Savannah Lambert each had three hits in the victory.

With no extra base hits recorded, the Trojans’ offense came from a wide cast of players. All 5 RBI were attributed to five different batters.

Northwest Cabarrus will visit Mount Pleasant in a non-conference game Friday at 5:00 pm. Cox Mill jumps right back into SPC action with a visit to Hickory Ridge on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
