The 13th annual Good Samaritan Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational will feature five area teams along with USA Today national No. 1 Findlay Prep among others this weekend at Trent Arena in Kettering.
A projected 75-plus recruits will participate in the weekend, which starts Friday and concludes on Monday.
Tickets are in supreme demand and online sales end today. Saturday tickets are sold, according to event organizers.
Fairmont AD Chris Weaver said ticketed capacity is between 3,600 and 3,700.
Aiken is the first area team to compete when it plays Columbus Africentric at 11:45 a.m. Saturday. Columbus Africentric is ranked No. 6 in the AP Division IV state poll this week, while Aiken (9-3) is ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer Divisions II-IV area coaches’ poll.
The featured game on Saturday night will be Franklin (11-1) against Montrose Christian (12-2) at 8:30 p.m. Franklin features Luke Kennard (Duke signee) and a Franklin team that only lost to Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) in the final of the Beach Ball Classic in late December.
Franklin is ranked No. 3 in the AP Division II state poll this week. Montrose Christian is ranked No. 29 nationally by USA Today.
