Donovan Catholic and Jackson Liberty met in a Class B South clash on Saturday that fell in favor of the Griffins 28-10.
Dave Calderon started the Donovan Catholic scoring with a 35-yard touchdown run that sent the Griffins into the half with a 7-3 lead.
It was the defense of the Griffins that extended the advantage in the third quarter, as Alex Rosario returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown. It was one of four turnover forced by Donovan Catholic in the game.
Griffins tight end Zach Schremmer closed out the third quarter with a 60-yard touchdown reception, while Kenny Cushman rounded out the Donovan Catholic scoring with an eight-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.
Freehold 42, Marlboro 26: Ahsanti Worthy hauled in a pair of touchdown catches of 50 and 12 yards in length, respectively, before Jake Curry closed out the first half with an interception, which he flipped to Jamel Smith-Rush who carried it in the rest of the way for a touchdown.
The second half saw 21 more points come for Freehold, as freshman Matt Krauss broke an 80-yard scoring scamper, before Curry delivered two more rushing touchdowns of 50 and 45 yards, as the Colonials defeated the Mustangs in this Class A North game.
Freehold Township 29, Toms River East 6: Quarterback Jack O’Brien threw for two touchdowns and rushed for one in the first half, leading the Patriots over the Raiders in a non-divisional game.
Nick Galanti caught a 15 yard TD pass in the first half for the Patriots. In the second half, Charles Sabbagh threw a touchdown pass to Anthony Lotti to give the Patriots a 29-0 lead.
