SOUTH BURLINGTON – Oakley Gordon totaled four touchdowns, including leading a game-opening touchdown drive, and Middlebury routed Rice 39-0 in high school football action Saturday.
Gordon tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Sawyer Ryan on Middlebury’s first possession. Gordon tossed another 13-yard score with 40 seconds to go in the first half quarter to Trey Kaufmann.
Oakley added a pair of 3-yard scoring runs, the latter with 14 seconds left in the half to give Middlebury a 32-0 intermission lead.
Cortland Fischer (1 yard) and Jerry Niemo (6 yards) also had rushing touchdowns for the Tigers (7-0), who won their 29th straight game.
Rice falls to 1-6.
• U-32 41, BFA-Fairfax 6: Devin Hanson ran for touchdowns on all three of his carries and U-32 seized the win at BFA-Fairfax.
Hanson, who also had a 67-yard TD reception, had scoring runs of 1, 55 and 79 yards to finish with a team-high 135 rushing yards. Colby Brochu added 129 yards on the ground with a rushing score of 52 yards and a 26-yard TD catch for the Raiders, who led 34-0 at the break.
U-32 quarterback Matt Greene went 3 of 3 for 101 yards and a pair of scoring strikes.
Fairfax’s Dylan Lumbra thew a 18-yard TD to Andrew Gomo late in the game.
• Otter Valley 55, Mount Abraham 22: Carson Leary totaled nearly 300 yards and Otter Valley ran out to a 40-0 halftime lead in cruising past host Mount Abraham.
Leary rushed a dozen times for 123 yards and two scores while also completing 12 of 20 passing for 170 yards and a trio of scores.
Will Ross, Tyson Cram and Robertas Nielsen were on the receiving end of Leary’s TD throws and Bretter Nickerson picked up 135 yards and two scores on 12 totes.
For Mount Abraham (2-5) in the second half, Ryan Paquin returned a kickoff 79 yards for one score and ran 64 yards for another. Devon Kimball intercepted Leary and raced 52 yards to the end zone for the other Eagle TD.
•Mill River 51, Poultney 7: A week after surpassing 1,000 yards on the season, Zack Allen rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries in Mill River’s win over Poultney.
Allen had scoring runs of 62, 15, 17 and 1 yards while Mike Morgan totaled three TDs and passed for 166 yards.
