Oct. 30 at St. George’s: This game will probably be the district championship game again for the seventh year in a row. It’s been a few years since USJ got the win over the Gryphons, and Marley said the teams are close to identical when discussing personnel.
Most important stretch
Weeks 9-11: The Bruins have a bye in Week 8 then travel to Fayette Academy, host Division II-AA Briarcrest Christian (with former Jackson Christian head coach Brian Stewart) and travel to St. George’s. They will want to go into the playoffs with some recent quality wins under their belts.
Aug. 28 vs. TCA: USJ has dominated this series until the last two years when the Lions have won this game convincingly. The Bruins’ talent appears to be more competitive with the Lions, and this game will be a good early indicator of where USJ stacks up compared to recent years.
Predicted regular season record: 6-4. The Bruins win the right games and will host in the first round of the playoffs.
