Section V selects the top performances on offense and defense each week in the greater Rochester area, based on nominations of area high school coaches. Ontario Honda sponsors the awards passed out during the season and the player of the year awards presented during the postseason:

OFFENSE

Class AA: Josh Mack (Pittsford) – Sutherland senior ran for four touchdowns, and finished with 193 yards on 22 carries, as Pittsford won at Rush-Henrietta, 36-33.

Class A

: Cory Gross (Brockport) – The Blue Devils remained undefeated after Gross, a sophomore, finished with 251 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns during a 32-28 win over Spencerport.

Class B: Greg Mruczek (Batavia) – Senior quarterback threw five touchdown passes to lead the Blue Devils over Class A Wilson, 34-28. Mruczek completed 14 of 27 pass attempts for 248 yards.

Class C: Cameron Cleveland (East Rochester/Gananda) – Junior running back ran for four touchdowns during a 55-20 win over Newark, a game where he finished with 265 yards on 12 carries.

Class D: Allen Chatt (Oakfield-Alabama) – Senior quarterback completed 13 of 34 passes for 212 yards with four touchdowns, as the Hornets defeated Pembroke, 42-27.

DEFENSE

Class AA: Jack Hartnett (Penfield) – Penfield senior linebacker made 12 solo tackles and was in on three stops for losses during a 17-9 loss to Webster Schroeder.

Class A: Reggie Russell (Greece Olympia) – Senior had 10 tackles, intercepted 2 passes and forced a fumble to help the Spartans pick up the team’s first win, 19-14 over Honeoye Falls-Lima.

Class B: Dominick Mogavero (Batavia) – The Blue Devils’ leading tackler had 15, including three for a loss at Batavia defeated Wilson, 34-28.

Class C: Levi Snyder (Attica) – A 6-foot-4, 225 pound junior defensive end, Snyder made 13 solo tackles, forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles. He also had a sack as Attica defeated Attica, 20-13.

Class D: Cameron Geiger (Caledonia-Mumford) – Junior linebacker helped Caledonia-Mumford defeat Geneseo 20-12 with 20 tackles, including eight solo.
