MERIDIAN — Former San Diego Chargers all-pro running back LaDanian Tomlinson was in Boise Friday for his ‘LaDanian Tomlinson Football Clinic.’
Over 60 campers took part in football drills, recruiting lessons, building character and leadership.
Though players were able to participate in several football exercises, Tomlinson said his mission is to bring awareness to what college’s look at in the classroom.
“Our mission is really to teach more about the education side,” Tomlinson said. “Even the current status of their high school and what they’re going through getting their core course classes done and really teaching them about the difference between your core GPA and your overall GPA because that’s what colleges look at.”
On the field, Tomlinson said he was impressed with the campers’ skills.
“You can teach them how to play the game, but they have to have the passion to play, and these kids, they have the passion to play.”
