Senior Brady Harrington scored 10 of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead host Whitney Point’s 56-39 Interscholastic Athletic Conference boys basketball victory over Marathon on Monday.
It marked the opener for both teams.
The Golden Eagles, who advanced to the Section 4 Class B title game last season, led, 38-35, heading into the fourth quarter. Harrington hit two of his three 3-pointers in the final quarter.
Senior Sean Kelly had a team-best 19 rebounds to go with 12 points for Whitney Point, which received 15 points from Josh Dean (three 3-pointers).
Ryan Tillotson led Marathon with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
Whitney Point will travel to Groton on Wednesday.
Dryden 66, Groton 51: Ali Abel-Ferretti and Stuart Stahlman combined for 45 points to lead visiting Dryden to an IAC victory.
Abel-Ferretti, a 6-foot-7 forward, scored 23 points to lead the Lions (1-0), who led, 34-22, at halftime.
Trevor Gardner contributed 11 points for the winners.
Canaan Bowie scored 20 points for Groton (0-2). Bowie has scored 20-plus points in both games this season.
Dryden will host Moravia on Wednesday.
