The Fossil Ridge High School girls swimming team is replacing one state title-winning coach with another.
CarolynFries has been hired to coach the SaberCats’ swimming and diving team, replacing TashaMarchant.
Fries has plenty of experience with Fossil Ridge. She’s a counselor at the school and coached the team from 2007 to 2013, leading them to a Class 5A state title in 2012.
She stepped down to work on her master’s degree in counseling, which she completed in May.
The SaberCats won the state title again last year under Marchant.
Fries coached many of the athletes on the team in her first stint as head coach and was around the team a lot last season, including in the stands for the state title.
“It was awesome. It was so exciting to see them win again and have such good performances,” Fries said. “I’m excited to be back into it.”
Marchant — who was also in her second stint as head coach at Fossil Ridge — stepped down in July to spend more time with her family.
