As the NFL draft nears, USA TODAY High School Sports will look back at the high school careers and draft prospects for some of the top players. Here is today’s installment on Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.

Dorial Green-Beckham

Position: Wide receiver

High school: Hillcrest, Springfield, Mo.

ALL-USA history: Named to the American Family Insurance first team in both 2010 and 2011 and was the Offensive Player of the Year in 2011. He set national records with 6,447 receiving yards and 72 touchdowns in his three-year career.

College: Missouri

Height, weight: 6-5, 237 pounds

By the numbers: He caught 59 passes for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore at Missouri after a relatively quiet freshman season (28 receptions, 395 yards, five TDs). Averaged 14.7 yards per catch in his two college seasons.

Draft positives: Transferred to Oklahoma in 2014 but was forced to sit out for the season because of NCAA transfer rules. Talent-wise, Green-Beckham might be near or even at the top of the food chain among wide receivers. Strong and quick at the point of attack. Has elite size and ball skills to go with above average speed. Can be a dominant weapon in the NFL.

Draft negatives: Has had a series of issues off the field. Was dismissed from Missouri after two seasons, leading to his transfer. Has not played in a game since the 2013 season. Lacks the quick twitch and reaction after the catch. Won’t make a lot of plays running with the ball. High risk, boom-or-bust candidate.

Projection: Round 2/3

What he says: “I’m young, I made mistakes. All the decisions I made, I wish I could take them back. … I know what’s at stake.”
