Jaquon Futrell rushed 21 times for 361 yards and four touchdowns to break a rushing record for Dover High School in the visiting Dragons’ 48-20 win over Pine Plains/Rhinebeck on Friday.
Angus Edmundson had three touchdown catches, with 190 yards receiving and six receptions.
Quarterback Ethan Lounsbury was completed seven passes on 10 attempts for 207 yards and three touchdowns.
“Pine Plains/Rhinebeck played very hard, came out tough,” said Dover coach Chris Lounsbury, whose Dragons improved to 2-4. “We made a few adjustments in the second half, but mostly, it was about tenacity on the defensive side of the ball.”
The Bombers were led by Patrick Mitchell, who rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Matt Beam completed six passes on 15 attempts for 70 yards.
“The game was a lot better than the score indicated,” Pine Plains/Rhinebeck coach Tom Povall said. “It was close for a long time.”
The Bombers host John S. Burke Catholic at 7 p.m. Friday. The Dragons host James I’ O’Neill at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
