RICHWOOD – Galion swept the Virg Rankin Relays Friday night at North Union High School.
The Galion boys won their meet with 75 points and were followed by Upper Sandusky (74), Highland (60), Pleasant (59), Fairbanks (53), Bucyrus (44), North Union (24), Ridgemont (11) and Elgin (3).
The Galion girls scored 92 points to take the title in that meet. They were followed by Pleasant (76), Fairbanks (52), Upper Sandusky (49), North Union (44), Bucyrus (44), Highland (21), Ridgemont (17) and Elgin (8).
Pleasant picked up wins in the boys meet from Justin McCurdy, Kyle Galyk, Josh Warner and Nico Sansotta in the 4×200 (1:32.56), and from Galyk, Warner, Sansotta and McCurdy in the 800 sprint medley (1:38.98).
North Union’s Mitchell Soviak, Kaleb Goad and David Leavitt won the shot put relay with Soviak’s 54-6 1/2 being the winning put.
In the girls meet, North Union won the 4×100 (Abby Davis, Sydney Ross, Katie Dotson and Sydney Plotner) in 51.28 and the 4×200 (Ross, Dotson, Plotner and Davis) in 1:51.62.
Pleasant (Boston Osborne, Valentina Martin, Kamryn Queen and Hannah Peltier) took the 4×1600 in 24:17.4 and the distance medley (Osborne, Jaden Mauk, Martin and Peltier) in 8:58.22.
River Valley 9, Galion 2
CALEDONIA – Sha Call tossed a two-hitter and Cambry Arnold continued to wield a hot bat with a triple and two singles as River Valley knocked off Galion 9-0 in the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference.
Call struck out four and walked two.
Call doubled and singled for the Lady Vikings (9-4). Claire Nicholson hit two singles, Mackenzie Warner doubled, and Alyssa Johnson, Alexis Reichardt, Kylie Lang, Brittany Ewalt and Morgan Lott added singles.
Fredericktown 6, Highland 0
FREDERICKTOWN – Fredericktown moved to 5-1 in the MOAC with a 6-0 blanking of Highland.
The Lady Freddies are now 9-3 overall.
Kelsey Walters led Highland (3-3, 5-5) with two hits. Megan Oder took the pitching loss despite hurling a five-hitter.
Cardington-Lincoln 10, Centerburg 0
CARDINGTON – Makenna McClure threw a three-hitter as Cardington-Lincoln downed Centerburg 10-0 in the MOAC.
McClure whiffed four and walked only one for Cardington-Lincoln, which leads the Blue Division at 8-0 and is 10-1 overall.
Khyla Jones and Aubrey Clark each knocked in two runs for the Lady Pirates. Clark hit a single, double and triple while Jones doubled and homered.
Brooke Snyder hit a triple for Cardington-Lincoln, Alyson Adams singled and doubled, Brooklyn Whitt had two hits, and Dakota Crum smacked a single.
Mount Gilead 8, East Knox 4
MOUNT GILEAD – Mount Gilead improved to 8-0 overall and to 5-0 in the MOAC as the Blue Division leader with an 8-4 conquest of East Knox.
The Indians trailed 4-2 after four innings before rallying to the victory.
Ben Hayes and Isaiah Harris each had three hits for Mount Gilead. Harris knocked in three runs.
Xavier Harris, Nick Arrington, Tyler Conners, Jake Wayt and Tyler Bland added singles for Mount Gilead.
Cory Conant was the winning pitcher oi relief of Dustin McAvoy.
Galion 3, River Valley 1
CALEDONIA – After River Valley had broken a scoreless tie with a run in the home sixth, Galion scored three times in the top of the seventh for a 3-1 MOAC win.
Tom Poorman batted in River Valley’s run. Travis Eickemeyer and Karac Doubikin added singles for the Vikes.
Zach Lehner pitched the distance for RV and took the loss despite allowing only five hits. He did not give up an earned run.
Jonathan Alder 4, River Valley 1
CALEDONIA – Luke Hundley’s 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 triumph over Logan Woods was River Valley’s lone win in a 4-1 loss to Jonathan Alder.
In singles, RV’s Thomas Starrs lost 1-6, 2-6 to David Salter and Jarod Tuttle fell 2-6, 1-6 to Tim Leffew.
The Vikes’ Lance DeLong and Jon Culler fell in doubles to Anthony Desvyonniko and Dillon Thomas 7-5, 2-6, 5-7. Jordyn Jackson and Nic Gottshall lost 3-6, 0-6 to Lucas McClaski and Conner Lombardi.
Danville 5, Highland 1
SPARTA – Highland fell 5-1 to Danville.
Highland scored when Drew Duncan walked, stole two bases, and scored on Bryce Geiger’s sacrifice fly.
