Gap is ‘alright’ in 62-14 win over Fort

Buffalo Gap scored early and often en route to a big 62-14 win over Fort Defiance in the season opening high school football game Friday night.

On a perfect night at Alumni Field, the Bison scored four times in the opening period. Two of those scores came courtesy of an interception and two Fort fumbles that gave Buffalo Gap a 30-0 lead. Tristan Anderson’s interception set up the first score while recoveries by Dylan Thompson and Chase Harlow set up another pair of scores.

Three more scores in the second quarter made it 50-0 Buffalo Gap at the half.

After a scoreless third period, Fort came back with a pair of scores on an 8-yard pass from Seth Carper to Lane McAllister and then Jordan Brooks scored on a 37 yard run to complete the Indian scoring.

“We did alright tonight,” said Buffalo Gap coach Andy Cline. “Our kids got after it and played hard on both sides.”

Buffalo Gap (1-0) hosts Parry McCluer next week while Fort (0-1) travels to Stuarts Draft.
