Gap tops Stonewall in straight sets

BUFFALO GAP — Coming into Thursday night, both Buffalo Gap and Stonewall Jackson were searching for a win.

The Bison, who were coming off a tough loss to Luray on Tuesday, came out with a purpose, sweeping Stonewall in straight sets 25-10, 25-13 and 25-18.

Sierra Clifton led the way for the Bison with 20 kills, five blocks, and 3 service points. Kaylee Mills and Katie Foster racked up 16 and 14 service points apiece with Foster scoring five aces. Abby Flint was also strong with five kills, seven points, and four aces. Emily Hanger was a force as well with 15 kills and five points.

Camille Ashby added four points to go with a game high 36 assists and 12 digs. Emily McComas rounded out the effort with four points.

In the JV contest, Buffalo Gap swept as well, winning 25-9 and 25-21. Bianca Castillo had 11 points. The win brought Gap back to .500 on the season and dropped Stonewall to 4-14.

Buffalo Gap will look to add another win when it hosts Page County on Tuesday.
