Buena Vista honors Coach Gary Wilkinson for giving so much to youth on and off the field
KUSA — The Johnsons’ All-Heart award is for an assistant high school coach who is involved with kids both during sports, and outside of the season. Buena Vista would like to recognize Gary Wilkinson who dedicates time and invests in developing successful young adults in honor of the Johnson family who lost three members in a rockslide.
Wilkinson was honored by the award on May 17th at the Buena Vista athletic banquet. He is from Monte Vista and has been an assistant coach for 35 years.
According to Matt Flavin, Buena Vista’s Head Football Coach, “He is involved in so much more than just coaching; from a science teacher, math teacher, boy scout troop leader, knowledgeable coach, science fair sponsor; you can pretty much name anything and I am sure he has been part of it.”
