The Gatorade State Volleyball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Sydney Fulton
THE BASICS
School: Delaware Military Academy (Wilmington, Del.)
Grade: Junior
Position: Setter
Height: 5-foot-8
Athletic achievement: She led the Seahawks to a 20-0 record and the state championship this past season. The state’s returning Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year, Fulton recorded 718 assists, 153 digs, 55 kills and 40 service aces. A two-time First Team All-State selection, she was also named Player of the Year by the Delaware Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.
Academic excellence: Fulton has maintained a 3.97 GPA.
Exemplary character: She has volunteered locally on behalf of youth volleyball programs.
THE PRAISE
“Fulton’s ability as a setter makes every hitter better,” said Trevor Bradshaw, head coach at Polytech High. “She was consistent and was able to elevate the entire team.”
THE FUTURE: Fulton will begin her senior year of high school next fall.
