The Gatorade State Volleyball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Morgan Hentz
School: Notre Dame Academy (Park Hills, Ky.)
Position: Outside hitter and libero
Athletic achievement: She recorded 465 kills, 476 digs and 41 blocks this past season, leading the Pandas (33-6) to the state semifinals. A 2015-16 Under Armour First Team All-American, Hentz was named Miss Kentucky Volleyball by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.
Academic excellence: Hentz has maintained a weighted 4.26 GPA.
Exemplary character: She has volunteered locally on behalf of an assisted living facility and a community center for underprivileged children.
“I can’t think of another player who can dominate a game as much as she can,” said Michelle Isaac, head coach at Cooper High. “She’s a very aggressive player who will take charge of a game and never let it get away from her.”
THE FUTURE: Hentz has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball on scholarship at Stanford University in the fall of 2016.
