The Gatorade State Volleyball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Jocelyn Moody
THE BASICS
School: Biddeford (Maine)
Grade: Senior
Position: Outside hitter
Height: 5-foot-8
Athletic achievement: She recorded 173 kills, 299 digs, 68 aces and 65 assists this past season for the Tigers (5-10). A First Team All-State selection, Moody posted a hitting percentage of .508. She is also a three-time First Team All-Southern Maine Athletic Association honoree.
Academic excellence: Moody has maintained a 3.67 GPA. A
Exemplary character: member of her school’s student council and the National Honor Society, she has volunteered locally on behalf of the Rotary International Interact service club and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
THE PRAISE
“Moody is a great all-around player and she did everything for that team,” said John Roberts, head coach at Scarborough High. “She passed, set or hit the ball on nearly every point.”
THE FUTURE: Moody is undecided upon a collegiate destination.
