The Gatorade State Volleyball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Corinne Cox
School: Notre Dame Academy (Hingham, Mass.)
Athletic achievement: The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, she led the Cougars to a 22-1 record and the Division 2 state championship this past season. Cox tallied 771 assists, 124 digs, 71 kills, 52 service aces and 42 blocks. A two-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection, Cox is a three-time Division 2 First Team All-State honoree. She concluded her prep volleyball career with 2,288 assists.
Academic excellence: Cox has maintained a weighted 4.17 GPA.
Exemplary character: The editor of the school newspaper, she has volunteered at South Shore Hospital and has donated her time helping senior citizens understand technology in association with the Teens Teaching Technology initiative.
“Corinne is unbelievable,” said Rachel Lassey, head coach of Dartmouth High. “She can turn any bad pass into a ball her teammates can full-out swing at. She has a great serve, is strong defensively and is a big block.”
THE FUTURE: Cox will attend Dartmouth College in the fall of 2016, where she will play volleyball.
