Greatness Present: The Tren’Davian Dickson show never slows down. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver, who routinely performs magic on the field, closed out the regular season with four more touchdown catches Nov. 6 as Navasota improved to 10-0 with a 78-0 win over Houston Washington. Dickson now has 72 TD receptions in his career, one shy of the state record held by former Texas Longhorn Jordan Shipley. For the season, the US Army All-American Bowl selection has caught 67 passes for 1,193 yards and 20 TDs. He has also returned one of his two interceptions for a TD as well as a punt for a score. The Rattlers head into the Class 4A, Division I bi-district round game against Columbia, scheduled for Nov. 13, with a 26-game win streak and in pursuit of a second straight Class 4A state title.

Greatness Past: Dickson was named the 2014 National Junior of the Year by MaxPreps.com after setting a national single-season prep record with 39 touchdowns receptions as he led the Rattlers to the Class 4A state title. He was also Texas Football Magazine’s Class 4A Co-Player of the Year and a First Team All-State selection by both the Associated Press and Texas Sports Writers Association.

Greatness Future: Dickson, who has vacillated between verbal commitments to the University of Texas and Baylor University, announced this past Monday that he will play for the Bears.

Make no mistake: The Gatorade State Football Player of the Year races aren’t over, and the National POY race is now heating up. Time remains for one standout student-athlete among thousands to rise to the top of our list. Check back for weekly updates on the top contenders making a case.
