THE BASICS

School: Washington (Sioux Falls, S.D.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Forward
Height: 6-foot-9
Weight: 180 pounds

Athletic achievement: He has led the Warriors to a 20-2 record and a berth in the quarterfinals of the Class AA state quarterfinals against Huron, scheduled for March 19. Geu is averaging 17.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game entering the state tournament. He was selected to the All-City Team and the All-State Tournament Team as a junior.

Academic excellence: Geu has maintained a B average.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of an elementary school literacy-outreach initiative.

THE PRAISE

“Deng Geu is unbelievably athletic for a 6-foot-9 kid,” said Brent Deckert, head coach at Brandon Valley High. “He can handle the ball, shoot from the outside and he just destroys the inside. He’s always a factor in the paint and makes it very tough to score anything in there.”

THE FUTURE: Geu has signed with North Dakota State.
