The Gatorade State Volleyball Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Morgyn Greer
School: Dripping Springs (Texas)
Position: Outside hitter
Athletic achievement: She led the Tigers to a 51-3 record and the Class 5A state championship this past season. Greer recorded 629 kills, 358 digs and 45 service aces. A 2015-16 Under Armour First Team All-American, she is also a three-time All-State selection and was chosen Class 5A-6A Athlete of the Year by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Academic excellence: Greer has maintained a B average.
Exemplary character: A devoted member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, she has volunteered on behalf of her school’s Peer Assistance and Leadership program.
“I’ve coached high school for 16 years and I’ve never seen a player like Morgyn Greer before,” said Jenny Richardson, head coach at Georgetown High. “She’s very competitive and skilled in all aspects of the game. She’s been dominant for three years.”
THE FUTURE: Greer has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball on scholarship at the University of Florida in the fall of 2016.
