Athletic achievement: He has led the Warriors to a 45-0 record and the USA TODAY Top 25 No. 1 ranking heading into the Dick’s Sporting Goods National High School Tournament, scheduled to begin April 2. Bacon averaged 24.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals through 45 games. He was selected to participate in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic.

Academic excellence: Bacon has maintained a B-plus average.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.


“Dwayne Bacon is a big, explosive wing who can make tough shots,” said Brandon Clifford, head coach of High Point Christian High. “He is the one guy they have that can get a basket without much help. It’s hard to defend a guy with that size and athleticism at the high school level.”

THE FUTURE: Bacon has signed with Florida State.
