The Gatorade State Football Players of the Year were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season. Each winner also demonstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.

THE WINNER: Terrell Hall
THE BASICS
School: St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Defensive end
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 252 pounds
Athletic achievement: He recorded 42 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks this past season, leading the Cadets to a 7-4 record and the semifinals of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference postseason. A two-time First Team All-WCAC selection, Hall also forced two fumbles and recovered two. He has been chosen to play in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game.
Academic excellence: Hall has maintained a B average.
Exemplary character: A devoted member of his church community, he has volunteered locally on behalf of an assisted living facility.

“Hall has a tremendous frame and all the tools: speed off the corner, quick first step, strength, really good leverage,” said Keith Goganious, head coach at Bishop McNamara High. “He’s a great player with a great future.”
THE FUTURE: Hall remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
