The Greene County Tech Lady Eagles started the second half with a 9-0 surge to take a double-digit lead and led the rest of the way, taking a 61-57 victory over Mountain Home in the Lady Bombers’ home opener Tuesday night at The Hangar.

Greene County Tech held just a 27-26 lead after a back-and-forth first half, but the visitors came out of the locker room with nine straight to take the game’s first double-digit lead.

Lara White scored, Allie Thomas scored after a steal, Kaylee Edgar buried a 3-pointer and White scored again to push the Lady Eagles’ lead to 36-26. Hannah Pfeifer hit two free throws at the 5:13 mark to end the Greene County Tech streak.

The Lady Bombers pulled as close as 38-34 after Micah Hudson’s fourth 3-pointer of the night, but the Lady Eagles pushed the lead back to nine at 43-34. After two free throws by Pfeifer, Blakely Adams drained a 3-pointer to stretch the lead back to 10 at 46-36. After Mountain Home’s Alivia O’Brien hit Mountain Home’s eighth trey of the night, Tech’s Kassie Tyner scored to make it 48-39 going into the fourth.

The Lady Eagles took their biggest lead yet when Adams buried a 3 with 5:42 left, stretching the lead to 51-39. Mountain Home made one last push with Hudson drilling a long 3-pointer and Vinessa Daniel scoring twice to make it 51-46. After a Tech free throw, Daniel scored on a putback to draw within 52-48.

Greene County Tech stretched the lead to seven twice more, but Hudson responded with her sixth trey after the second time, climbing within 57-53 with 1:18 left.

After 1 of 2 free throws by Tech, Cassie Martin hit a short jumper to bring the Lady Bombers within 58-55 with :35 left. Thomas converted 1 of 2 from the stripe for the Lady Eagles, and Mountain Home answered with another deuce as Daniel scored in the lane with :14.3 left to make it 59-57.

It took Mountain Home until :01.6 remained to foul Tech’s Edgar, who knocked down both free throws for the finale.

Hudson led all scorers with 20 points, while Daniel added 13 for Mountain Home. Adams paced Greene County Tech’s balanced attack with 12 points.

The Lady Bombers started strongly, scoring seven straight for an early 9-2 lead as Martin and Hudson each hit 3-pointers in the spurt.

Greene County Tech climbed within 9-7 on 1-of-2 free-throw shooting by Thomas, but Pfeifer answered with a 3-pointer and Daniel scored to push the Lady Bomber lead back to seven.

The Lady Eagles pulled within two again to end the first quarter as Tyner hit two foul shots and Thomas heaved a 3-pointer that went in at the buzzer to make it 14-12.

The teams went back and forth through the second with five ties and six lead changes over the frame. Thomas gave the Lady Eagles their first lead of the night at 21-19, but Mountain Home went right back in the lead with a bucket by Martin and a deuce by Maly Tabor with 3:15 left in the half.

Greene County Tech took the lead into the halftime break as Adams’ basket at the 1:28 mark made it 27-26.
