THORNVILLE – A three-run first inning was enough for Mike Gittings and Sheridan on Saturday.
Gittings tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts and four walks in a complete-game victory, as the host Generals shut out Circleville 4-0 in non-league baseball.
Sheridan (10-8) loaded the bases in the first with no outs. Dylan Dupler reached on an error, Nick Thomas singled and Trevor Davisson walked, setting up a two-run double from Andrew Paxton. Austin Sode added a RBI groundout later in the inning for a 3-0 lead.
Thomas contributed a RBI single in the sixth and Paxton finished with a double and two singles.
Brandon Burroughs allowed four runs with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings to take the loss, while Calbert Cooper and Aaron Manson both had singles for the Tigers (8-10).
