Damian D’Emilio (120 pounds), Devon Dunbar (132), Brandon Bates (145), Tyler Baird (182) and Jay Nino (220) earned championships Saturday as Genoa’s wrestling team won its fourth straight sectional tournament at Lake.

The top four at each weight advance to districts.

Matt Herrick (195) was second for the Comets, while Seth Moore (126) was third. Thor Morrison (106), Andrew Muir (113) and Adam Bates (138) were fourth.

“The highlight was advancing 10,” Genoa coach Bob Bergman said. “That’s special. Seeing everyone pull together — it was a great day. We got great leadership from the seniors and we’re hitting our stride.”

Jared Koenig (145) was fifth as Danbury finished 12th.

Thomas Schnitker (113) earned a sectional crown as Woodmore finished sixth. Conor Emch (126) was second, while Tyler Sandwisch (106) and Sean Small (132) were third.

Seth Gaghen (160) and Rito Alvear (285) were fifth for the Wildcats.

D-II at Oak Harbor

Brandon Garber (220) captured a sectional title as the third seed as Oak Harbor finished second.

“He wrestled well throughout the day and (Friday) also,” Rockets coach George Bergman said. “Garber chose bottom (in the championship match) in the final period and got out. Brandon did well with the tie-ups and the other guy got desperate. He brawled well in the semifinals and finals.”

Dylan Mansor (120), Jeremy Balboa (138) and Rhett Petersen (145) were runners-up while Trevor Scherf (132), Ben Petersen (152) and Brody Hennig (160) were third for the Rockets. Nick Bergman (126), Kian Thompson (170) and Stephen Simkus (182) were fourth.

D-II at Sandusky

Port Clinton finished 14th.
