Top girls soccer players come together for all-state game at Lakewood Memorial Field
LAKEWOOD — The All-State girls soccer game was held at Lakewood Memorial Field yesterday evening following the boys All-State game. Some of the top girls soccer players, split into North and South, took to the field against their other talented counterparts. The rainy weather, prior to and during the game fabricated slips, spills, and cautioned footing for the athletes.
The girls battled; the score remained scoreless until the second half as the rain slowly died. North took advantage first, scoring three quick goals against South. Holding a 3-0 lead till nearly the end, South received and executed a penalty kick to get on the board.
Strong shots, clever passing and the will to compete, the game was entertaining and worth the rain. North emerged victorious 3-1 against South.
