Name: Rebecca Wittlin

School: Pittsford Mendon.

Sport: Indoor track and field/1,500-meter race walk.

Class: Senior.

Family: Parents, Siobhan and Craig; sister, Jessica, 20.

Academics: 3.5 GPA.

Last week: The fifth-year varsity member won the Section V Class B 1,500-meter Race Walk, after she was a runner-up in 2014. All first-place finishers advanced to the Meet of Champions, Section V’s qualifier for the state meet, 6 p.m. Saturday at Rochester Institute of Technology.

She qualified for a 1,600 race walk event at the New Balance Nationals last year and finished 11th. Her personal-best in the 1,500 race walk is 7:00.97, which she set at RIT on Feb. 13.

About me: Also runs with Pittsford Mendon girls 3,200-meter relay … Attending University of Vermont after high school graduation, and plans to major in medical laboratory science … People are surprised that “I can walk really fast. They ask: ‘How do you do it?
