Ironton 48, Chillicothe 37
IRONTON – After two wins to open its season, Chillicothe tasted defeat for the first time after a 48-37 loss to the Ironton Tigers on the road.
The Cavaliers (2-1, 1-0 SCOL) were down 25 points at one time after allowing Ironton to score 32 first half points. That hole was too deep to overcome.
Leading the way for the Cavs was Osh Brown with 25 points and eight boards while Essence Devlin was the next leading scorer with five points.
Chillicothe will return to the court Dec. 2 hosting Washington Court House.
Huntington 45, Grove City Christian 35
CHILLICOTHE – Earlier this week, Huntington suffered a loss to Western. Saturday night, the Huntsmen avenged that loss with a 45-35 win over Grove City Christian at home.
“Defense was really solid tonight,” Huntington coach Eric Snyder said. “That was the main factor of us coming out on top. We came out and built a comfortable 14-4 lead after the first quarter and extended through the second leading by 14 at halftime. We did a nice job of closing the game out and getting the 10-point victory. We’re happy with the balanced scoring as six different players contributed.”
Leading that six was Ariel Sams with 15 points while Dylana Gragg, Jillian Snyder and Carolane Cox all finished with seven points each.
The Huntsmen (2-1) will next open up conference play against Unioto, Tuesday at home.
