Coming off Monday’s 12-7 win over Section 9’s Valley Central, Our Lady of Lourdes High School girls lacrosse coach Mike Galantich is looking forward to Wednesday’s 4:30 p.m game at Mahopac to gauge the Warriors’ progress.
“Mahopac’s going to be a challenge for us,” Galantich said. “We’ve played them a few times and I’m looking forward to seeing where we are at this point in the season and how we are maturing and how we can adjust to things.”
On Monday, host Lourdes was led by Cat Gallery’s five goals and four assists. The Warriors, Galantich said, for the first 10 minutes of the game, had trouble spelling Valley Central goalkeeper Hali Vandermeulen (nine saves).
“The girls had to figure out what to do about that,” Galantich said. “They showed a lot of patience, a lot of ball control and stuck with it and were able to capitalize on that patience and cash in on some opportunities. They showed a lot of maturity in order to be able to figure that out.”
Also contributing for Lourdes were Danielle Keenan (four goals, assist), Sophia Stanford (three goals). Gabby Breault (five saves) and Marge McGahay (three saves).
