Girls Tennis: Lee Ladies march into C36 final

Robert E. Lee’s girls tennis team will have the chance to play for a conference championship, thanks to its 5-2 win Wednesday over East Rockingham in the semifinals of the Conference 36 tournament.

The Lee Ladies will take on top-seeded Wilson Memorial at 4 p.m. Friday at Wilson Memorial High School. The Green Hornets defeated Riverheads 6-0 in their semifinal match.

Hannah Flavin was an 8-4 winner at first singles, Maddy Sliwoski won 8-2 at third singles and Jennifer Williams posted an 8-2 win at sixth singles. Chelsea Church grabbed Lee’s fourth singles point, winning her No. 4 singles match 9-8 in a 7-2 tiebreaker.

Williams and Addison Willett combined for the clinching win at third doubles with an 8-1 win.
