GRAND LEDGE – Grand Ledge’s Cassell Jones is a candidate for the McDonald’s All-American Game.
The Comets senior point guard was one of 18 players from Michigan listed as candidates to play in the prestigious basketball game. Also on the list was Michigan State signee and Muskegon senior Deyonta Davis and Texas signee and Saginaw Arthur Hill’s Eric Davis.
“It felt pretty good,” Jones said. “That was pretty sweet being on that sheet with all the good players.”
Jones is the only boys or girls player from the Lansing area nominated to play in the game that features the top seniors in the country. A final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls will be revealed later this month.
Jones is averaging 12 points, 4.0 assists, 4.0 steals and 4.0 rebounds per game for the Comets, who are 6-0 heading into Friday’s CAAC Blue showdown with Everett.
