And it will feature numerous wrestlers with ties to the Lower Hudson Valley.
The headliners are Cornell’s Brian Realbuto (Somers grad) and Illinois’ Steven Rodrigues (Fox Lane grad), who are nationally ranked in their respective weight classes. Other local wrestlers whose teams will be participating include New York University’s Anthony Calvano (Nanuet grad) and John Messinger (Putnam Valley grad), Mount Saint Vincent’s Cristian Hilario (North Rockland grad) and Patrick Polintan (Ardsley grad), Cornell’s Dylan Realbuto (Somers grad), Maryland’s Youssif Hemida (Mamaroneck grad), Northwestern’s Jacob Berkowitz (Scarsdale grad), Princeton’s Trey Aslanian (Edgemont grad), Oswego State’s Sean Maloney (Clarkstown South grad), Franklin and Marshall’s Chris Martorello (Fordham Prep grad/Eastchester native) and Stevens Institute’s Jacob Derechin (Iona Prep grad/Sleepy Hollow native).
Journal News wrestler reporter Vin Mercogliano will be on hand to check in with some of the local grapplers as they compete in front of their hometown crowd.
Wrestling will be broken up into three sessions, at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon. It will feature prominent Division I programs such as Cornell, Nebraska, Illinois and Northwestern, as well as teams from the New York/New Jersey area such as Hofstra, Rutgers, LIU Post, Mount Saint Vincent, NYU, Princeton and Stevens Institute. Others include Maryland, Drexel, Franklin and Marshall, George Mason, Muhlenberg, Oswego State, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and Wilkes University.
